I’m sat at home waiting for the delivery of 1,000 books. Nervous and exciting times indeed. It has been a long haul: nearly three years in the making but the Life of Pies is nearly ready to be unleashed onto an unsuspecting public.
First job will be to post out many of the 114 copies that have been advanced ordered. I’m also tied up with preparations for tonight’s book launch at The Raven Hotel in Wigan where anything up to 100 people will gather to toast the launch of the publication.
There will be pies supplied by Bowens of Adlington and there’s a rumour going around that the Raven will also be providing some of their own homemade pies to sample. With a fine range of real ales and good company, a great night is in prospect.
The book will start to become on open sale over the weekend with some stockists already confirmed and hopefully a few more independent bookshops around the country keen to get a bit of pie in their customer’s lives.
If you want to buy the book direct from me, all you have to do is click here http://www.lifeofpies.co.uk/buy
With any luck, I can start to relax a bit now but with stockists to find, over 100 books to post and looking at getting the book on Amazon and perhaps a Kindle version to follow in a few months there will be no let up.
A few press releases to write here and there and several people I owe blogs to which I haven’t got around to writing, all helps raise the profile of the book as I look to recoup the thousands I have invested in doing this over the past few years.
My only aim is to get the books I have sold this side of Christmas and recover my outlay. Plus I obviously hope that the book is an entertaining and informative read for those people who have been kind enough to invest a tenner in it.
Please, please send me your feedback, your tweets and comments (unless it’s “that was a waste of a bloody tenner”)
All things considered I’ve got enough on my plate until Christmas (metaphorically as well as meat and potato pies) but if there are any further developments I will be keeping the blog up to date a little more from now on in. Let’s not forget I only mustered a measly 46 pies in my 100 days of pie feature. What can I say? I’m a busy man! I have books to sort out!
In the meantime, I’d just like to thank everyone who has supported my little venture and I look forward to seeing old friends and new later tonight.
Now, where are these pie books?
Oh, HERE THEY ARE!! Don’t think I’ll be going on me treadmill for a while
