murdochsTime to throw a controversial choice into the mix. Right at the start of the year I was introduced to the concept of the Macaroni Pie popular North of the Border. Lots of my Northerly twitter friends rave about these and they literally go like hot cakes (hot pies) at Pittodrie and many other football grounds North of the Border.

So I got a box load of them for the lads who help me sell the fanzine. Delivered to my house all the way from Inverurie.

And the response? Ranging from mediocre to “bloody awful”. I had spoiled them with peppercorn pies from Dundee the previous month mind you.

I begged to differ and found mine to be a luscious cheesy delight. However, the advantage I had is that I could pull mine straight out of the oven before it had chance to dry up.

There’s another 313 pies like the above featured in Life of Pies. If you want to order a copy of the book for just £9.99 plus postage please click this link to order

You’ll receive it as soon as I’ve finished my pie!
