piebookLooking for a literary treat for the pie lover in your life? Well, look no further as “Life of Pies” can fulfil your needs….

What’s it all about then?

Life of Pies is a tale of one man’s quest, nay struggle, in search of pastry perfection. A two year trip around the country seeking out the very essence of pie-fection.

Who would like Life of Pies?

Do YOU like pies? Do you know someone who likes pies? More than likely! Because we all like pies. If you want to read an epic travelogue where the author travels the full length of the UK eating and ranking 400 pies, then this is the book for you.

But is it only about pies?

Well, yes and no. The pies are the central theme to the book but it is also a light hearted look at this fine nation of ours and the many culinary traditions which have thrived and survived from region to region. It’s educational as well as humorous you see, never again will you be stuck in a foreign town or city unable to get yourself an encased meaty treat.

Where does it cover?

All points north, east, west and yes even south from the Pie Capital of the world that is Wigan. Around a third of the pies are from the North West, with a good selection from Yorkshire, the North east, the Midlands and yes – even East Anglia and Cornwall are represented. And don’t get me started on Scottish pies, because they’re worth a book in their own right!

What do I get for my money?

You get 388 pages of pie based obsessiveness, funny anecdotes, tales of desperation and a full index containing champion pies and full listings by region. Oh yes and there’s photos too – nearly 100 of them – including a full 16 pages of colour pie pics to get you dribbling onto the pages.

How do I know it’s not a load of rubbish?

Well it’s not I’m telling you! But you don’t have to take my word for it, there’s over 30 great reviews on Amazon, some in depth ones and others just making cruel jibes about my weight. Ho hum.

OK you’ve sold it to me, where can I get Life of Pies and what’s the damage?

Well, first and foremost you can buy it right here! And because it’s Black Friday weekend or something, I’ve decided to knock a couple of quid off to help to get rid of the remaining copies. So you can now buy a copy from the pie shop for just £7.99 plus postage and packaging.

Just visit the Pie Shop to get stuck in to this deal: http://www.lifeofpies.co.uk/buy/

Don’t trust me and want the safety blanket of a multi-national conglomerate? Well, you could buy from Amazon, albeit you’ll still get it delivered by me and it’s still 9.99 on there because if I’m being perfectly honest, they take a few quid off me for listing it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0992842301

If you’re US based then you can get it via Createspace on Amazon (PLEASE NOTE, FRIENDS FROM ACROSS THE POND: THIS BOOK CONTAINS SAVOURY PIES ONLY!!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0180T253M/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0180T253M&linkCode=as2&tag=lauobraut-20&linkId=FAXLSE3K5CAEFF7Q

Indeed it is available via Createspace across the globe. The pie pics aren’t in colour mind you in this edition (A Createspace restriction not mine!)

And the latest addition is to unleash the book on to Kindle where you can read it on your way to work and salivate over pie pics for a mere £2.63, and also get a free pie-view (preview): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-Pies-Pie-Fection-Martin-Tarbuck-ebook/dp/B0180T253M/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Sorry for the pre-Christmas sales pitch and I’ll be back blogging about pies soon

Yours in pastry, Martin
